A year and a half after her previous album “San-san”, which won the 12th CD Shop Award 2020 (Blue Grand Prize) and continues to enjoy long-term sales, Kaneko Ayano has announced a brand-new album.
Between 2016 and 2018, all of Kaneko’s independently released, limited-distribution works sold out immediately upon release. As her fan base steadily grew, her 2018 album “Shukusai” (Festival) was selected as a winner of the CD Shop Award, and the following year’s “San-san” went on to receive the Blue Grand Prize at the 12th CD Shop Awards. About a year and a half after “San-san”, she now releases her new full-length album “Yosuga” in three formats — CD, LP, and digital.
This new work was recorded at IZU STUDIO, her creative home where her past albums were also produced, alongside engineer and sound producer Yasumasa Hamano, and her recent live and studio collaborators — guitarist Hiromasa Hayashi (ex. Odotte Bakari no Kuni), bassist Takuma Motomura (Yuranfune), and drummer Bob (HAPPY).
Spending about a month together in a camp-style recording session at IZU STUDIO, the band members shared their time and space in a relaxed environment, resulting in a free-spirited sound unconstrained by genre.
The album contains 11 tracks in total, including three singles. The jacket photo was shot by Mikako Kozai, and the design was handled by Masashi Moriyama (CLASS).
The album’s world is one where Kaneko Ayano’s words and voice, wrapped in gentle yet piercing melodies and band sound, resonate deeply with listeners. Also not to be missed is the re-recorded version of “Ranman (album ver.)”, a song that has evolved and matured over time.
