Four titles from Samurai Champloo Music Record by Nujabes, Fat Jon, FORCE OF NATURE, and TSUTCHIE
Set for reissue on vinyl!
Samurai Champloo, which aired on TV in 2004, was a groundbreaking anime directed by Shinichirō Watanabe. Blending elements of period drama and hip hop—truly a “champloo” (mélange)—its innovative visuals and soundtrack captivated not only anime fans but also hip hop enthusiasts, earning high acclaim both in Japan and overseas even to this day.
Director Watanabe, known for his deep appreciation of music, selected a remarkable lineup of artists for the show:
-
Nujabes, a legendary trackmaker whose lo-fi hip hop style shook the scene and influenced countless followers worldwide;
-
Fat Jon, a member of Five Deez who made waves in the 2000s and also released solo work produced by Nujabes;
-
FORCE OF NATURE, the duo of KZA and DJ KENT, renowned for remixing numerous artists and dominating club scenes at home and abroad;
-
TSUTCHIE, a pioneer of Japanese hip hop and producer for SHAKKAZOMBIE, active since the genre’s early days.
The tracks they created for Samurai Champloo were originally released in 2004 as four CDs—Departure, Masta, Impression, and Playlist—which became smash hits.
Now, 18 years later, these four albums are being reissued on vinyl for the first time ever.
